Frequently Asked Questions

  • Q01 How about other web hosting companies?

We could work with other hosting companies except that (1) they must accept PayPal payments and (2) we have to get their confirmation.  So far, HostMonster and Lunarpages confirmed in writing that they will allow us to sign up for hosting plans on behalf of our clients.  For any special request, please contact us at Support Desk (Choose 10 under Help Topic).

  • How about other TLDs like .info or .org?

.info and .org domains are cheap and therefore often used by organized spam groups.  Also, note that registering other TLSs including .info and .org can take several days longer.  As of March 18, 2008, cheap-domainnames.com also works for .mobi, .tv, .us, .biz, .ws and .name.  For any special request, please contact us at Support Desk (Choose 10 under Help Topic).  Click here to check domain availability.

  • Could you register a domain somewhere else other than cheap-domainnames.com?

As long as they accept PayPal payments, we could.  Again, we have to get a consent in writing that they will allow us to register domains on behalf of our clients.  It is also possible that forwarding a domain can take longer than necessary because of our unfamiliarity with their control panel.  For any special request, please contact us at Support Desk (Choose 10 under Help Topic).

  • If I move my website from one hosting company to another, will I lose contact with my clients?

No.  As long as everything is the same (username, domain), your clients can use the same e-mail address to contact you.  That also means that you have to set up an e-mail account at a new hosting company with the same username that was used at the orginal hosting company.

  • Can I move my WordPress blog to a new host?

Yes.  Moving a blog itself is not so difficult.  Without any preparation, permalinks can be altered after moving the blog to a new host.

  • Which is better, 1-year or 2-year plans?

Definitely, a 1-year plan will be better.  You don't know if you will be happy with the services you receive in the next 12 months or 24 months.  Choose one year.  Then if you don't like it, just switch to a different hosting company with the domain you have registered somewhere else.
