Time Magazine’s Person Of The Year – Right or Wrong?

TOKYO (MacHouse) – If you live in the U.S., Julian Assange is by and large portrayed as the enemy of the state. If you live anywhere else, editor in chief for whistleblower website WikiLeaks, may be regarded as symbol of freedom of press. Personally, I would join the latter group since I currently don’t live in the U.S. Nonetheless, I know as a fact that there’s nobody else who has made more news for CBS Evening News, which I watch every day on the Internet, in the past several weeks than did Mr. Assange.

So who is your person of the year? Time Magazine has chosen Mark Zuckerberg as their Person of Year 2010, according to their website. I don’t agree or don’t agree personally. They can pick anyone they think is appropriate. All I can say is that I have never seen so many comments against one article anywhere else. A majority of people who posted a comment seem to choose Julian Assange as their Person of Year 2010.

One person writes

Julian Assange should have won. Period. He clearly took first in your poll and above that what he did something that going to change the world. Why did you need to waste everyone time with a poll when all you did was picked the one you thought would benefit you most.
Facebook is cool and all, but Mark Zuckerberg didn’t give up didn’t give up the rest of his life so the world would always have a weapon to fight censorship, ignorance. Julian Assange is a hero and he will go down in history as such.
I no longer use Time Magizine to provide me with accurate non-bias information. You are cowards that obviously picked the easy route instead of standing up for what was right.

Another person writes

I can’t believe it!!!! What a shame! Come on Time!!! You had the possibility to make an hero be face of the year!
Julian Assange had to be that person. Zuckerberg was just someone stealing someone else idea.
So you voted for someone who succeded not for his own skills.
This is really ridiculous.
Wikileaks can change the world in better and u are missing this chance.

On the other hand, there are people including one who writes

Why is everyone so upset that this young man received this award? Are you all jealous? What is it? He is only 19 for crying out loud. If he can do this at 19, all I’m saying is that we should give him a break, if he can connect the world to befriend one another via the internet like he has, perhaps one day he will accomplish something even greater. Who knows? And if he doesn’t, so what? I enjoy the games, don’t you? and if you don’t, do you chat with friends on Facebook? If not, you should give it a try sometime. It’s fun, I’ve found so many of my old friends on here, and met so many new ones. Mark Zuckerberg has not just created a toy for us to play with, he has created a tool for us to utilize, to learn with. How we use it, is up to us. Think about it.
Happy Holidays to all of you in Facebook and TIME land. Smile

Last year, I was very shocked when U.S. President Barrack Obama was awarded Nobel Peace Prize. This year, I’m very shocked to find out that a lot of people are going against Time Maganize’s Person of the Year.
