Beware of Active Phishing Website of National Bank of Kuwait (NBK) Hosted at BOLINSBOOKS.COM - Part 1
TOKYO (MacHouse) - More than two hours ago, an organized cyber criminal group circulated a phishing message implicating National Bank of Kuwait (NBK). The subject line of the message is Important Message to Watani online Customers, and sender’s address is shown as nbkonline@service.com. (See Screenshot 01.) The message goes
DEAR CUSTOMER,
NBK Bank Online is pleased to notify our online banking customers that
we have successfully upgraded to a more secure and encrypted
SSL servers to serve our esteemed customers for a better and
more efficent banking services in the year 2009.
Due to this recent upgrade you are requested to update your
account information by following the reference below. using our
new secure and safe SSL servers. To validate your online banking account
click on Update Online Banking .

The URL underlying the hyperlink is http://bolinsbooks.com/online.nbk.com.kw/
default.php?kw=WOLWebUI/default.aspx (A continuous URL is divided into two lines.) As shown in Screenshot 02, clicking on the link, one will be forwarded to an active phishing website hosted at the domain of bolinsbooks.com.
Our preliminary analysis indicates that the immediate source of the phishing message is a web server hosted in the Netherlands. And the phishing website appears to be hosted in Texas, USA. We will have a more detailed report hopefully within 24 hours.
