Security Alert: Fake MSNBC Breaking News Messages and HTTP Fake Codec WebPage Attacks 01

TOKYO (MacHouse) - More than 3 hours ago, an organized cyber criminal group starting to circulate spam messages with sender’s name of MSNBC Breaking News. We have received at least 7 similar messages in this kind. The subject is slightly different in each spam message. For example, one of them is titled
msnbc.com - BREAKING NEWS: Obama set to win presidency (See Screenshot 01.)
Other spam messages are titled
msnbc.com - BREAKING NEWS: Mary-Kate Olsen guilty for Heath Ledger’s death

msnbc.com - BREAKING NEWS: Japanese Prime Minister denies World War 2 ever took place

All these spam messages are identical to the extent that the third line of the body contains the following line

The underlying URL is different in each message. The websites at the destinations are apparently hacked to host a malicious code, which is believed to attack only Windows OS.

According to security software company Symantec, the severity of this vulnerability attack is high, stating ‘This attack could pose a serious security threat.’ They call it HTTP Fake Codec WebPage
