TOKYO (MacHouse) - A cyber scum group has installed a scam website to redirect Internet users to the website at onlinescannerxp.com where they claim they sell a product called XP Antivirus Protection. If you access the scam website pretending to have something to do with Yahoo!, you will be redirected to XP Antivirus Protection’s website without a blink of eyes. That’s where you will be forced to download a Windows-based file.

The evil redirection website is hosted at the domain of yahoo-us.info. (See Screenshot 01.) This website is brand-new because the domain itself was registered just some 20 hours ago. (See Screenshot 02.)

If you access yahoo-us.info, you will be instantly redirected to the website at onlinescannerxp.com with no time to escape. (See Screenshot 03.) Eventually, you may be forced to download a file titled XPantivirus2008_v880421.exe or similar. (See Screenshot 04.) This weird file name refers to the affiliate ID. In other words, the organization behind XP Antivirus Protection is also part of the redirection scam operation. That also means that you should avoid using XP Antivirus Protection.
