TOKYO (MacHouse) – Google‘s Google Groups has been extensively exploited by affiliate spammers for the past several weeks. Cyberterrorists circulate spam comments to advertise Google Groups pages where they mostly advertise online casino websites. As cyberterrorists create hundreds of spam pages a day at Google Groups, the situation is virtually out of hand for the search giant. How about MSN Groups? Of course, they still do exploit MSN Gourps. (See Screenshot 01.)

The reason why cyberterrorists want to exploit Google Groups rather than MSN Groups is obvious. At Google Groups, they can create many pages under the same group. (See Screenshot 02.) Cybercriminals cannot create pages at MSN Groups. But MSN Groups is still their target.
Some 2 hours ago, for example, they circulated two spam comments about 10 minutes apart. And those spam comments included exploited pages at MSN Groups. Two sponsors financing this operation are the websites of www.888.com and www.europacasino.com. (See Screenshot 05-6.)
Today, we hoped that the pharmacy spam page we found at MSN Groups in January 15 was already removed. We hoped wrong. (The link can be found here.) After more than 2 weeks, it’s still there. MSN’s situation is not terribly bad so far. But it’s possible that they will some day find their situation out of hand if they don’t do anything now.
