TOKYO (MacHouse) – It was just one of insignificant spam comments that went around the WordPress community about an hour ago, we thought. (See Screenshot 01.) But it’s not. If you click on one of the hyperlinks, you will be directed to a website (See Screenshot 02.) where you will be further redirected to another website against your will. The website at the final destination says PornTube, a popular file sharing website where members upload and watch X-rated movies.
Actually, it’s a fake website. We have found a couple of domains including 3xpowered.com and 3xfestival.com. If you access one of the fake porn websites, chances are that you will download a PC file against your will. (See Screenshot 03.) Most likely, it should contain a computer virus or malware installation. This is a common technique used by cyber criminals these days to make Internet users believe that they will be required to install a special program to watch free movies.
Furthermore, if you attempt to enter a directory one level up where the fake porn website is hosted, you may find a page which is titled “410 Gone.” (See Screenshot 04.) This is also a fake page, and it’s a common, cheap method that spam criminals use to convince Internet users that an appropriate measure has been taken by the web hosting company against spam.
Poor Jennifer Aniston… (See Screenshot 06.)
